Supplements - Why we need them

If you speak to doctors, most will say that if you eat a healthy balanced diet you will get all the nutrients you need from food; and supplements are of no use. Or they might say using supplements just creates expensive pee. Its true that you cant supplement a bad diet. A good diet can become exceptionally well with added supplements.  Don’t think just because you taking supplements you can have a bad diet. Please don’t.

So why do I believe everyone (healthy or diseased, adult and child) can benefit from supplements?

Firstly, if you are eating a healthy balanced diet I believe that you can’t get all the nutrients from food. Why? Today most of the soil in the world our vegetables and fruits are growing in are nutrient (mainly minerals) depleted. Farmers use chemicals, fertilizers and pesticides which deplete valuable nutrient contend more. Meaning our food don't get optimal levels of nutrients in them.

Then, how many can say they get vegetables and fruits from their own gardens? Our food travel. For us living in Dubai, our food travels far. Food is kept in cool storage, which also decrease nutrient value. When arrived at destination how long that the food still stay in storage or on the shelve, before you buy it? Our food doesn't reach us fresh.

And then we still have to cook most of vegetables. From soil (which is depleted) to table our vegetables and fruits loose nutrient value. So when we eat vegetables and fruit the quantity of nutrients aren't as high as what our bodies need for optimal health, let alone if you fight disease.

Excess chlorine in water, white sugar in the diet, unbalanced diet, preservatives, colorants, flavoring, soft drinks, alcohol consumption, smoking, heavy metal toxins, air pollution and stress are just a few daily factors that depletes our body from essential nutrients.

Important and life sustaining nutrients are missing from our modern diet.

Then we have our picky eaters or those that doesn't want to eat fish because they worried about mercury toxicity. Adults and kids on special diets, eliminating a food group. And the list goes on.

To just maintain current health I do suggest the following supplements to be taken daily by everyone in the family. Even babies can take these in liquid forms in recommended dosages. However, if you (or a family member) struggle with a health issue (ADHD, allergies, diabetes etc etc) please consult with your healthcare practitioner or nutritional therapist for a more specific supplement protocol.


1.Take a daily good multivitamin & mineral. Choose one that includes all major vitamins and minerals. Little sugar, no coloring, no preservatives. If you can buy an organic product. Non- GMO.

2.Take a good quality fish oil. Choose one that is third-party purity tested.

3.Take a good quality probiotic. One that needs to be kept in the fridge with at least 5 billion live organisms. Good quality probiotics not only help with gut health but also improve immunity.

At the end of the day it is cheaper to keep your family healthy by eating wholesome food & taking supplements than treating illness & disease by visiting the doctor regularly and taking pharmaceutical medicine. Nutritional therapy is inexpensive, effective and most importantly safe.
